I drove through torrential thunderstorms for three hours heading into Topeka. I drove the first 500 miles in seven hours. The last 90 miles took me three hours. These thunderstorms were just like the ones in Florida, except the storms were 100 miles wide. Perhaps I drove along the path of the thunderstorm, or perhaps the storm was stalking me. I drove with emergency flashers on for three hours since I was only driving 30 mph on an interstate as were most other motorists. Many drivers pulled over on the side of the road which I thought was too dangerous. I did pull off into a rest stop for awhile and the storm subsided. Shortly after starting again, the storm came back with a vengeance. Water flooding the roadway concerned me, as well as potentially driving off the road down an embankment due to the extremely poor visibility. At times I could barely see 30 yards. The torrential downpour didn’t seem to bother the truckers, as they would come by at 60 mph and drench Dr. Zeus’s windshield temporarily completely obliterating the view of the road. I wonder if truckers have night vision googles?
