Road Trip to Nowhere

Embarking on a road trip with no destination made me feel calm, peaceful, and free. I really have no idea of where I am going or how long I will be traveling. I am just heading North By Northwest until I find cooler temperatures. There is no plan, no schedule, and no agenda. Well I suppose there is one plan, find cooler temperatures.

I remember a TV show were the lead character left the show. His final scene was in a cafe along a desolate road in the southwest, probably somewhere in the New Mexico or Arizona desert. As he leaves and pays his bill, the waitress asks him, “Where you headed?” He says, “No where in particular.” She replied, “Well how will you know when you get there?” He answered, “That is a good question, who knows, that is a very good question, have a great day.” And with that, he gets in his car and drives off into the sunset with a voice over saying that he believes in happy endings. That scene in the lonely cafe on the empty stretch of desert road completely captures how I feel about my upcoming travels.

We’re heading up to West Virginia in a week or so. Plenty of cool weather there.

Don’t think I am going to get quite that far north this trip Wayne, but I don’t really know. Have a great trip!

Being free on the open road with no itinerary sounds wonderful, and this is a great time of year to be out there. Full moon on Sunday will be the Hunter’s moon, and I am reading that it will be a Supermoon! Make sure you go outside and walk around in the middle of the night. Hope you can be parked in an area with no lights too! Just enjoy!

Debbie, great advice about walking outside in the middle of the night, I should be some places where I can see a lot of stars. I’m thinking I may drive part of the Natchez Trace Parkway, its listed in the National Geographic Scenic Drives book.

Met with a couple of friends from high school back in town for a week to see their mother. We went up to Leiper’s Fork, TN. Saw two bicyclists drive by the house where I am staying before we left, saw a couple on the way up there, saw a couple of handfuls in Leiper’s Fork taking a break, and came back down the Natchez Trace Parkway and saw a few more. Nice cycling here this time of year if you come by here. Trees are starting to turn here now.

I’m thinking about maybe driving up part of the Natchez Trace Parkway, its listed in the National Geographic Scenic Drives book, so I might make it up to Tennessee. Will let you know Ron.

Yea, but there are still 8 billion people in the Tampa Bay area, a little less crowded up here, lol.
