Cycling from the RV park to Cedar Key was very pleasant and took about an hour. The excellent smooth pavement along with a clean three foot wide shoulder made for a very enjoyable and safe ride. Cedar Key seems to be frozen in time from 50 years ago. The small Mom and Pop places and tiny homes kind reminded me what many parts of the coastline in Pinellas County looked like when I moved there in 1979. Most of those small motels, houses, and eateries built 50 years ago have been replaced by beach view blocking and sunshine stealing mega structures. One small section of Cedar Key along Dock Street is quite touristy, built up with three story restaurants and bars. Ironically, that is where this photo was taken from. I chose this place to eat because I wanted a good view of the Gulf of Mexico and the Cedar Keys.
Cycling through the small sleepy town I rode past a small school and saw children running around joyfully. I thought that this must be a wonderful place to grow up, an idyllic town, safely tucked far away from crime, traffic, congestion, and still right on the Gulf of Mexico.
Riding back was also extremely pleasant since I had a strong tailwind at my back from the westerly prevailing sea breeze pushing me home. Today was an enjoyable peaceful day.
